Manny Machado of the Padres breaks coolers in a dugout breakdown against the Brewers.

The San Diego Padres dugout coolers were out of commission in the top of the seventh inning Sunday after third baseman Manny Machado was frustrated and hit them.

Machado was in a good position to get his Padres, who have struggled to meet expectations this season, back into the game against the Brewers on the road.

Runs were needed after the Brewers scored seven in the sixth to lead 9-4.

The Padres scored two more to make it 9-6 after Brewers reliever Abner Uribe was pulled for Hoby Milner with runners on second and third and nobody out.Juan Soto popped out to shortstop Willy Adames, putting Machado in the box

However, Machado emerged in a big spot like his teammate. Machado left the dugout in frustration after Carlos Santana got the first base out.

Machado walked down the dugout benches wearing his helmet and tapping coolers with his bat.

Eventually, frustration boiled over.Machado swung aggressively at the coolers while his teammates and coaches did nothing. Machado kept going and threw his helmet for good measure.

Machado, who went 1-for-5 with a strikeout and an RBI, wants to help his team win. The outcome was the reverse of why he entered the batter's box.
