Broccoli prepared in the microwave with sesame dressing
Broccoli that has been steamed doesn’t have to be dull. Try this quick and simple broccoli dish that is heated in the microwave and then tossed in a wonderful sesame dressing.
The microwave makes it quite simple to prepare steamed broccoli, which is a family favorite. A simple broccoli dish created by steaming the florets is elevated in this recipe by the addition of a sesame dressing that is not only prepared in the microwave but also has an intensely delicious profile.
A quick and simple side dish that only takes 15 minutes to prepare and does not even need you to turn on the burner or oven. A dish that combines sweet and savory flavors, such as bulgogi, braised short ribs, and gochujang chicken thighs, served with a large bowl of rice, would be an excellent accompaniment to this.
How to Make a Sesame Dressing That Is Both Simple and Flavorful
In order to prepare the sesame dressing, first the oil is heated in the microwave, and then grated raw garlic and ginger are mixed into the oil while it is still hot. The ginger and garlic will become more subdued and will leave a delicate flavor in the oil. Both the earthy toasted sesame oil and the acidic apple cider vinegar bring out the best in the grassy broccoli.
If you don’t have apple cider vinegar, you can substitute it with red wine vinegar. The broccoli florets take on an incredible amount of flavor when the dressing has had a chance to seep into them.

SERVINGS
between 4 and 6 servings
Ingredients a quarter of a cup of olive oil
2 big garlic cloves, peeled and grated
1 milliliter of grated fresh ginger, derived from a piece of 1 inch.
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
a couple of tablespoons’ worth of toasted sesame oil
2 milligrams of toasted sesame seeds, in addition to some extra for garnish
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
optional: one-fourth of a teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes
6 cups of florets of fresh broccoli, which is about 2 pounds.
1/4 of a cup of water
Method
Prepare the sesame dressing by combining:
Pour the oil into a small glass dish or measuring cup that can be heated in the microwave. It should be covered securely with plastic wrap, and then a hole should be poked in the plastic wrap with a paring knife so that steam may escape. Heat the oil in the microwave on high for approximately three minutes, or until it reaches the desired temperature.
Remove the plastic wrap with care, then throw it away. After stirring in the grated garlic and ginger, listen for the sound of sizzling as you set the mixture aside for five minutes. In the meanwhile, you may prepare the broccoli by cooking it.
The vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, sesame seeds, salt, and crushed red pepper flakes, if used, should be whisked in at this point.
To prepare the broccoli
Put the broccoli florets in a big dish that can be heated in the microwave (we used a glass measuring cup that held 8 cups), and then pour three quarters of a cup of water over the broccoli. After covering the dish securely with plastic wrap, place it in the microwave and cook on high for 5 to 7 minutes, tossing the broccoli halfway through the cooking process and then covering the bowl once more.
Remove the plastic wrap with care, then place the broccoli in a colander that has been placed in the sink, and let it drain for a few minutes before returning it to the dish.
TIP RIGHT HERE!
We used a microwave with 1,200 watts for the development and testing of the recipe. It’s possible that you’ll need to cook the broccoli for a longer period of time, adding extra time in increments of one minute, but this will depend on the strength of your microwave. Keep an eye out for visual indicators of readiness; broccoli is done when it has a vibrant green color, is soft, but is not mushy.
Turn it over and serve it:
After the broccoli has been cooked, pour the prepared dressing over it and toss it to get a uniform coating. To finish, sprinkle over some more sesame seeds. You may serve it right away, or you can let it remain at room temperature for twenty minutes so that the flavors can combine.
